I do think it would've made more sense with Amanda, especially the part about her being a mentor to the kids. I could see that more from someone successful like Amanda. But I'm still glad that never happened. Killing Amanda off in the first minutes of the pilot would've been a huge, huge mistake. It would've gotten big ratings (bc people want to see Heather Locklear) and more mainstream press, but I think the backlash would be huge when people realize she's dead.
I completely agree. I can't believe they were actually going to kill off Amanda Woodward in the first episode. That just pisses me off. It's bad enough Sydney is now being killed off (after being resurrected), but Amanda would have been even worse.

Maybe when Locklear turned them down they could've taken Lisa Rinna up on her offer. She has a son with Michael, so they could bring him on and keep David as Jake's son. Rinna did well on her soaps and recently on Veronica Mars, so she could've made this work. It just bothers me how quick they are to destroy the history set by the original Melrose Place.

^ Yeah, I would've rather they had Taylor in this role. She was a bitch and could easily play the bitch role. And I wouldn't really care that they killed her off in the first episode.

I wish that was what happened. I think it would have been hilarious if, after all of Lisa Rinna's embarrassing lobbying to get on this show, they finally agree to bring her on, but then they kill her off in the first episode.

I would've been more then fine with Lisa Rinna coming on to (used to like her, now I can't stand her). It makes more sense to bring on someone like Lisa Rinna or even Jamie Luner (had they got to her before AMC) to do what they brought Laura Leighton on for. Those two characters were big at the end of Melrose's run and I don't think the risk of a severe backlash would've been as great if one of them kicked the bucket in the first show.

Lexie makes the most sense, actually. She owned the building last and I could see her screwing with the tenants. Taylor would've been a nice second choice, although I can't see her being a big enough bitch to go after all the tenants. The only thing that makes her work is the fact that she is connected to Micheal.

Well, they couldn't go with Lexi because Jaime Luner joined AMC, obviously.

I would have been fine with Lisa Rinna returning and Taylor being offed. I would of even accepted a SORASED son.

I can't wait to see how they explain how Michael had a kid that was never mentioned. I wish they would of changed the first name of David like they did the last name. Oh well.

I'm glad that Josie is going to appear as Jane. She's needed simply because the new show is involving Michael and Sydney.

Oh? I didn't realize they changed David's last name. I'm glad they did, so it's not as bad, but still, if they're going to have a character on this show named David, I wish they would have just kept him as Jake's son. I hate that they're making him Michael's son, almost as much as I hate Sydney being killed off.

If it weren't for those two things, I'd probably have no real complaint about the show that I haven't even seen yet, LoL!

Still, I'm more excited for it than I was/am about 90210.
